I'm many things: a Christian, a feminist, a writer, an environmentalist vegetarian, a lesbian, a worship leader, a student, a youth group leader. This blog will probably reflect all of that. There may be spiritual musings, excerpts from projects I'm working on, political rants, and maybe even the occasional internet quiz or cute picture of my puppy. We'll see.
I don't censor myself much, not in my own space, and going by my past internet blogging history, I'm bound to irritate someone at some point. If I'm out of line (and, hello, white middle class American here, I've been privilege-checked before and expect it to happen again, despite my best intentions) I don't mind someone pointing it out, but I dislike fights and confrontation, and I like to keep my space as safe as any place on the internet can be.
SAFE SPACE FOR DUMMIES:
I understand that the things I discuss on this blog are emotional and divisive. Discussion is critical for growing, so I hope that I will occasionally stimulate conversation and diverse opinions.
However, this is my online home. Therefore, this will be a safe space for me, and for those that visit. If you came over to a dinner party I was hosting and began to scream and insult me or my guests, I would be perfectly within my rights, even expected, to show you the door. Likewise, if you "scream" at me or insult me (or other commenters) here, you will not be allowed back.
This doesn't mean that everyone has to agree with me or kiss my ass. You are welcome to disagree with me, as long as the tone remains respectful. I will do my utmost to show respect to everyone, and I expect the same in return.
Sexist, homophobic, racist, and abilist comments will not be tolerated.
Victim-blaming is absolutely not tolerated. I will delete (and probably ban) people who engage in victim-blaming. I personally have too much psychological baggage to deal with (including PTSD which triggers panic attacks and downward emotional spirals), and I know I'm not the only one. Also, it's just straight up disgusting, and I don't want that kind of sewage running through my online home. It's just not allowed here. Ever, no exceptions.
These guidelines exist so that everyone feels safe here, including me.
