La. My favorite was when I found out about the (multiple) penguin fics - not just because they exist, but because my total bafflement was returned with something along the lines of, "you don't know about them? Weird. Everyone knows about them."

I haven't been a fandom this cracktastic since my (brief) foray into Gundam Wing a couple years ago. I still remember my shock when someone rec'ed me a story, saying, "This is my favorite in the gundam wing werewolf genre!" And I'm like, there's enough were!fic for a genre?

(I still haven't worked up the nerve to read the "Sheppard develops the ability to give everyone spontaneous orgasms" fic, even though it's been rec'ed to me by three seperate people, who all tell me to ignore the summary because it's not that bad! Really! CRACK)

SGA has the best crack (http://kimberlyfdr.livejournal.com/286201.html) and I love it. Where else can you find a fandom where wingfic has its own genre? Where ancient technology makes them do WEIRD things (and the whole Ancients=Crack Ideas is canon)? Or Rodney can turn into a tulip/dinosaur/lay duck eggs and it's okay because...it's SGA :D

When I first started reading fanfic, I'd only watched bits and pieces of the show, and I thought, "Wow, all of this relying on ancient tech for plot seems like a total cop-out." And then I actually watched the show and realized, "Oh. Okay."
